Biography
Brian Czech, Ph.D., is the president of the Center for the Advancement of the Steady State Economy (CASSE), a non-profit organization in Arlington, Virginia. The mission of CASSE is to educate the public and policy makers on the fundamental conflict between economic growth and: 1) environmental protection; 2) economic security; 3) international stability. Czech is also a certified wildlife biologist, career civil servant, and visiting assistant professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, National Capitol Region, where he teaches ecological economics. Czech is the author of Shoveling Fuel for a Runaway Train: Errant Economists, Shameful Spenders, and a Plan to Stop Them All, and (with Paul R. Krausman) The Endangered Species Act: History, Conservation Biology, and Public Policy.

With some exceptions, the primary services provided are lectures and the information available at www.steadystate.org, including downloadable publications and slideshows. CASSE also assists professional societies and other non-governmental organizations in developing policy positions on economic growth.
