Climate Economics Taskforce
Our newly formed Climate Economics Taskforce joins together professional economists from academia, think tanks, and NGOs for the purpose of establishing an integrated response to climate change that is firmly rooted in science and in E3's commitment to social justice.
The purpose of the climate economics taskforce is to supply timely economic analysis to NGOs and policy makers working on climate policy, to work with the environmental community to coordinate a climate strategy, to provide educational materials related to climate economics, and to debunk the arguments of climate skeptics.
Our goal is produce and publicize a reputable, clear, compelling, and accessible counter-argument to the widespread perception that avoiding climate change will be ruinous to the economy. By gathering the expertise of economists who comprehend the urgency of climate change, we will illuminate the enormous true costs of not acting against climate change, the actual costs (modest, by comparison) of changing to renewable energy sources, and the misleading role of conventional approaches to discounting in dismissing damages to future generations.
